The Designer
The DesignerBorn and raised in England, and having lived in Australia and Iran, Marian now makes her home in California. Her travels across the world, and her passions for Grand Opera, Kabuki and ethnic dance are the influences in her work and have made her the virtuoso of "Bohemian chic". Even the museums, bazaars, and market places in the farthest corner of the world add special ingredients to the magical mixture that is Marian's signature look.

She had already achieved international acclaim as a textile artist, when in the 1980s she moved seriously into the world of fashion. Instead of approaching fashion design in the traditional way, she allowed her distinctive fabrics to become the driving influence in designing garments, and from this came her innovative styling.

Marian's timeless designs are for the woman who doesn't need to slavishly follow fashion's latest whim -- a woman who appreciates luxury and unique appeal. Not surprisingly, her eveningwear is worn by some of the most fascinating and accomplished women of our time - Kirstie Alley, Bridget Fonda, Patti LaBelle, Lisa-Marie Presley, Edna O'Brien, Phylicia Rashad, Meryl Streep, Elizabeth Taylor, Sigourney Weaver, Catherine Zeta-Jones - the list is long.

Although she shows her collections at the major fashion events on Seventh Avenue in New York, Marian continues to maintain her connections with the art world. Now her garments have joined her textile art in the collections of major museums in the world, such as The Smithsonian in New York, The Victoria & Albert in London, and the Costume Collection of the Metropolitan Museum, in New York.

Her garments are distinguished by the many studio techniques that have been used to add color and texture to the fabric, and by the delicate details and high-quality craftsmanship that go into each item. Ancient methods combine with modern dyes and paints to beautify the surface of her fabrics; special beads and trims are painstakingly attached for the final elegant touch. These are truly beautiful works of art for the body.
